Default '82 GT Hatchback Police

This item of interest popped up on another copcar forum the other day. Sorta looks like a civvie model pressed into GSP service but the dogdish hubcaps certainly weren't part of the GT package. Hmmmmm...another potential SSP hatchback controversy?

Looks like a 79 Pace Car left-over. Its odd that it has a rear wing though....

Ford gave NC an '83 Mustang convertible to use, of all things, as a test vehicle..wouldn't surprise me if this were something similar.

Nah....I am not sure I buy it. I think all REAL and AUTHENTIC police/special service Mustangs are all sedans. I am just a die-hard sedan kind-of guy. The best looknig Fox Body Mustang is the 5.0 sedan/coupe from 82-93. That hatchback '82 must be something someone put together - but not, in my opinion from Ford.

Hey Matt,
I have interior shots saved on disk of the last SSP that NC has. I got shots from two different angles, and shows the equipment real well. The only thing missing was the radar, and the vascar unit. They had taken it out sense the car is only used for show these days. I dunno how to send pics on the net, but if you shoot me an email, I will be glad to snail mail them to you.

Mike,
I would like to, but I seriously doubt that I am going to have the time.
I will let you know if anything changes.

GSP tested 3 GT Mustangs and 3 Ffirebird Trans Ams in 82... The Trans Ams were not very well received so the GSP purchased 10 of the new for 1983 "SSP Mustangs" the following year... I have several pics of both the TA's and Mustangs in my other threads.

Ps the wheels and cap were swapped onto this car later in service as they all three came with TRX wheel and tire package...
