  • 1992 ma police interceptor, is it worth saving??

I was looking for some information on a 1992 mustang police interceptor that I bought for a donor car for a factory five kit I'm building. My intentions was to take the drive train out to put it in my 33 hot rod kit but then found out that it was a ma interceptor and
I'm debating if I should use this as my donor now because once I take drive train out the car will no longer have a title. So basically I'm just looking for some information on the car to see if it's worth saving.. I have indentified the buck tags and some other options that the ssp have and it's an authentic interceptor wih 40,000 original miles and the whole car as a whole is in great condition..

    DON'T DO IT !!!

Seriously it is worth more to an collector. You can find donor 5.0 hatchbacks easily... Way better alternative than sacrificing a piece of SSP history...

Sounds like a nice one. I agree with Kapracing....plenty of 5 liter drivelines out there. This one should be saved.

Yes there were very few in service. I recently went to a car show outside of the city of Boston and found the only registered ssp in ma! I'm considering having two projects instead of one! Thanks guys

                Save It !

Definitely find a different donor car...

I know it's more work for you right now but the 'car karma' you gain will be worth it !

Even if you don't do something with it, someone else will. Maybe work out a trade for another foxbody ? Or you might even be able to make alittle cash to put towards the 33 and find another donor car.

I just went through hell and back to try to save my SSP after an accident.
The reaction I get is worth it ever time I have to say

" ... and it used to be a police car !"

It would be a shame to tear it apart! The body is in good shape just not a good paint job and the interior is an great shape! I'm trying to sell some toys to keep this ssp for another project in the future! Still very torn about just because the drive train has under 40,000 miles so it's perfect for my hot rod kit! Still debating..

Sorry guys but I decided to use the 92 ma ssp as my donor for my factory five 33 hot rod. It was a very hard decision but it would be to costly and time consuming to find another donor car because I need drive train and also the tittle to register the kit in ma! I know it sucks and it killed me to take the rear end out of a great ssp. But I will have the body, chassis, interior and many many other parts for sale all in great shape! I promise it will be a great sacrifice in the end!!

A great sacrifice to build a kit car? Guess it is all in the eyes of the beholder (and owner), if it makes you happy, then congrats. I'm sure it will look nice. Everyone will have an opinion though, but in the end, if it makes you happy, then it was the right thing for you.

Let's take a moment of silence as we remember this rare, precious breed of a car that could have lived a longer life and will now be nothing more than an "out of body" experience.

Too many people get a notchback, not knowing the origin , and gut it for either a Factory Five kit or turn them into drag cars because of them being lighter. Personally, I think that it should not be gutted.... Find someone interested in restoring it and have extra $$$ for the '33.

                              Do the right thing...........
