MCA 30th Anniversary, Barber Motorsports Complex, Birmingham, AL, Aug 31-Sep 2 2006

Cars started arriving at the park on Thursday for the show. As you can see, the grounds are just beautiful at the Barber Motorsports Park. Really a unique layout, with several tiered levels making for a great experience whether a spectator or a participant. The variety of the cars was overwhelming, and with over 1000 show cars present, they literally ran out of room for everyone! SSMOA sponsor 5.0 Resto was on hand, as were other leading industry vendors, with one of everyone's favorite - the Ford GT in stunning red!!

Here's some highlights of the cars being displayed at the show.

Here's a look from the third level up - the cars have just started arriving.
A view of the stands from the track gives you a unique perspective. This place is really nice, and the track and adjoining areas are unbelievably landscaped.
This 1969 Shelby, said to be one of one with it's options, was stunning. At first glance, it appears Orange, but it's actually called 'Competition Red'.
And if one Shelby wasn't enough on that color - take your pick!! All outstanding.
Really nice Boss 302, with shaker of course. There were lots of Boss cars present, in all shades. This one looked great with rear louvers and spoiler in black.
'66 Fastback, nicely restored...
And a GT convertible with red interior-spotless. There were so many nice cars, it was tough to appreciate them all.
Rent-a-racers? There were several new Hertz models on hand, and this new/vintage combination made a cool display. You can see where the styling cues for the new GT-H came from.
Todd Greenwalt brought his own collection, including the '04 Competition Orange Mach 1 and new Hugger Orange Shelby convertible, among others.
This '04 is a nice as they come - with almost no miles, check out the documentation! Outstanding in every way.
If one nicely restored Mustang pace car isn't enough-bring a spare.
The Mach 1 Registry and found David Wagner were on hand...Mach's of all years represented, including '71-'73.
This '79 Pace Car was very, very nice.
A rare black/red leather combination on this 4 eyed GT convertible was a nice touch.
Another group in force, the Boss/Shinoda cars were present. One of every color, really neat shot.
And of course the Yellow Mustang Registry! Not confined to year or model, just Yellow and Mustangs!
Saleens were of course present, from old to new. Roush's next door.
This '79 Mustang with it's six was an incredibly clean, original owner, 26K mile car..very nice.
Yes, this IS a real plate-and NO it's not for sale. The owner told me he got up early and waited in line the day GA DMV made 7 character vanity plates available-smart!! Somehow I don't think this will leave the family.
